HKIA air passenger volume up 4.3% to 6.42m passengers in December
Passenger traffic to and from the Mainland and Japan recorded the most significant growth.
Hong Kong International Airport closed the year with strong growth figures across all three traffic categories in December with passenger traffic growing 4.3% YoY to 6.42m passengers, according to a media release.
Transit traffic and a 6% growth in Hong Kong resident travel boosted passenger throughput figures. Passenger traffic to and from Mainland China and Japan recorded the most significant increases.
Flight movements also breached a monthly record high after rising 2.7% YoY to 36,635.
Cargo throughput also increased 6.3% YoY to 462,000 tonnes thanks to an increase in transshipments and exports.
Amongst key trading regions, cargo traffic to and from Europe and India posted the most significant increase this month.
