Buildings Dept. approves 27 building plans in August

The Buildings Department approved 27 building plans in August - seven on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and 14 in the New Territories.
Seventeen were for apartment and apartment-commercial developments, two for commercial developments, one for factory and industrial developments, and seven for community services developments.
Consent was given for work to start on 21 building projects that, when completed, will provide 255,056 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 3,903 units, as well as 57,640 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 13 building projects.
The department also issued 25 occupation permits - eight on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and 12 in the New Territories, according to a Buildings Dept. report.
Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 169,015 square metres, involving 1,931 units, and 92,272 square metres for non-domestic use.
The declared cost of new buildings completed in August totalled $4.7 billion.
The department issued seven demolition consents involving seven building structures. It received 4,267 complaints against unauthorised building works and issued 762 removal orders on unauthorised works.
