Drainage department awards $528M for treatment works
The Drainage Services Department has awarded a $528 million contract for upgrading the preliminary treatment works at Sandy Bay, Cyberport, Wah Fu, Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau.
Director of Drainage Services Chan Chi-chiu said this is the 11th major works contract awarded under the Harbour Area Treatment Scheme Stage 2A.
The facilities will provide preliminary treatment to sewage before it is conveyed via tunnels to the Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works.
Major works of the contract include upgrading of the fine screen systems and the grit removal systems, and modification of existing inlet pumping stations at the preliminary treatment works. The deodorisation systems of the preliminary treatment works will also be enhanced and increased greening areas will be provided. The contract is scheduled for completion in mid-2015.
