New contractors replace Shinefold Engineering in lift maintenance works

Shinefold's suspension takes effect on 1 May.

According to a report, the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department said today that the responsible people for all 234 lifts previously maintained by Shinefold Engineering have appointed other registered contractors to take over the lifts' maintenance.

The department will suspend Shineford's registration as a registered lift contractor for six months from May 1.

The department has monitored the change of registered contractors for the affected buildings, and set up a hotline and deployed staff to the buildings to meet the responsible people.

A lift incident involving the breakage of suspension ropes occurred at 480 King's Road, North Point, on March 2, and Shineford failed to ensure that lift works were carried out properly.
