Government approves 16 building plans in January
8 of these will be on Hong Kong island.
In a report, the Buildings Department approved 16 building plans in January - eight on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.
Eight were for apartment and apartment-commercial developments, three were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments, and three were for community services developments.
Consent was given for work to start on 16 building projects that, when completed, will provide 65,157 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 990 units, and 38,903 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use.
The department received notification of the start of work for 12 building projects.
It issued 13 occupation permits - five in Kowloon and eight in the New Territories.
Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 20,093 square metres, involving 203 units, and 61,798 square metres for non-domestic use.
The declared cost of new buildings completed in January totalled $2 billion. In addition, 13 demolition consents involving 13 building structures were issued.
The department received 3,999 reports about unauthorised building works in January, and issued 592 removal orders on unauthorised works.
