Housing Bureau inks MoU on construction industry transformation
The MoU covers three areas for collaboration.
The Housing Bureau has partnered with the Hong Kong Center for Construction Robotics (HKCRC) to transform the construction industry.
The MOU covers three areas for collaboration: Smart Tower Cranes, Smart Construction Sites and Smart Estates.
As partners, the Housing Department and the HKCRC will jointly develop a smart system to enable workers to remotely control tower cranes at ground level or indoors.
In the next stage of development, the parties will develop an auxiliary control system with artificial intelligence functions, such as automatic lifting, route planning and obstacle avoidance.
The HKCRC has also developed construction robots such as rebar-tying and floor-grinding robots to enhance on-site safety and efficiency.
On Smart Estates, the Housing Department said the adoption of various smart equipment and innovative technologies like cleaning robots and transportation robots, and the Internet of Things, AI and mobile devices can improve estate management and work efficiency.
