OneChain, LEAFIoT join forces to protect urban trees, preserve the environment
The collaboration enhances data integrity, authenticity, transparency, and traceability in tree monitoring and management.
Blockchain technology startup OneChain continues its mission to promote sustainable development and a green lifestyle as it partnered with LeafIoT, a company dedicated to environmental preservation, for an immediate and accurate tree monitoring solution.
The collaboration involved integrating LeafIoT's tree monitoring system with OneChain’s blockchain platform to enhance the accuracy, security, transparency, and traceability of tree monitoring and management data across Hong Kong.
Using LeafIoT’s tree tilt sensing technology, IoT devices, and data analytics, a monitoring network that spans the entire Hong Kong region was created. This allows governments, communities, and businesses to access tree tilt data in real time, thus making tree management more efficient, cost-effective, and actionable. Meanwhile, utilising blockchain technology fortified data security and integrity, setting new industry standards.
“Our vision in founding LeafIoT was to protect urban trees and create a harmonious environment for people and trees,” said LeafIoT founder Herman Chan. “We believe that by applying blockchain technology to data management, we can make a positive contribution to environmental preservation and sustainable development by increasing transparency of the green asset.”
Beyond setting standards for integrity in tree management, the solution also unlocks the value of green assets whilst promoting sustainable ecological and economic development. OneChain founder Anne Yeung talked about the collaboration, stressing that the initiative leverages the strengths of both OneChain and LeafIoT.
“We aim to provide digitalisation of physical assets as a practical application to unlock additional value for environmental assets like trees, expanding the scope of green assets, enriching the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) ecosystem, and assisting more businesses in efficiently implementing ESG strategies and goals,” Yeung said.
Looking to the future, OneChain and LeafIoT unveiled their other plans for their collaboration: digitising green asset management, expanding and unlocking the value of green assets, and integrating the ESG ecosystem into clients.
By adopting digital technologies and data-driven solutions, the partnership can promote efficient management of environmental assets. Both companies will also be able to shed light on the broader ecological, economic, and social value of environmental assets beyond their immediate use. Lastly, OneChain and LeafIoT’s dedication to integrating ESG into their clients’ operations highlights the importance of sustainability, responsible practices, transparency, and good governance.
