Hong Kong approves of Shenzhen clean air plan
Plan has tough air pollution prevention measures.
Hong Kong welcomed the just released “Shenzhen Air Quality Enhancement Plan” that spells out clear air quality targets and air pollution prevention and control measures.
The plan includes implementing desulfurization denitrification and dust removal technologies for coal-fired power generating units; promoting cleaner power generation; improving motor fuel quality and tightening vehicle emission standards.
Hong Kong's Environment Bureau said the city will continue to collaborate with Guangdong and Shenzhen in setting-up a regional joint mechanism to prevent and control air pollution, and enhance cooperation in key areas to further improve air quality in the Pearl River delta region.
In March, Hong Kong unveiled the "A Clean Air Plan for Hong Kong" that lists a series of air quality improvement measures covering land and sea transport, power plants and non-road mobile machinery to combat air pollution.
