
Employees not eager to change jobs
Fewer want to do so.
A report by recruitment agency Ambition shows that the number of employees looking to change job in Hong Kong has fallen to 34%, a fifth less than previously. Only 16% would consider transferring within their current company.
Of the employees who do want to leave their companies, 38% will jump ship because they see no career advancement while 29% cited dissatisfaction with their current salaries. Some 17% will leave because they feel unsuited to the company culture while 16% don’t get along with management.
Both employees and employers said increasing salaries and benefits were the keys to retaining and attracting staff.
On average, 75% of Hong Kong employees earn between HK$50,000 (US$6,444) and HK$99,000 (US$12,760). Some10% earn more than HK$100,000 (US$12,889) and 15% earn less than HK$50,000 (US$6,444).
Some 69% of employees are willing to relocate abroad to further their careers. Of those willing to relocate, 67% said they were likely to do so within the next six months.
