
Hong Kong and South Australia sign tourism agreement
Will promote bilateral ties and encourage stronger cooperation in tourism.
Hong Kong and the State of South Australia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation, said Andrew Wong, Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Commerce, Industry and Tourism).
Wong signed the MOU on behalf of Hong Kong with visiting South Australian Minister for Tourism, Recreation and Sport, Leon Bignell.
Financial Secretary, John Tsang and the visiting Premier of South Australia, Jay Weatherill, witnessed the signing ceremony.
The MOU gives recognition to the project to provide Hong Kong Ocean Park with eight koalas by Cleland Wildlife Park, South Australia.
Australia is the ninth largest tourism market for Hong Kong with over 630,000 arrivals last year. Hong Kong is also Australia's ninth largest source market with over 170,000 Hong Kong residents going there in 2012.
South Australia, whose capital is Adelaide, is the fourth largest among Australian states and territories.
