
Hong Kong's median monthly household income dropped to $21,900
16.2% of domestic households had monthly income below $8,000.
In a report, the Census & Statistics Department says the median monthly household income for April to June was $21,900, down from $22,000 reported in the first quarter. This was based from its Quarterly Report on General Household Survey for the second quarter.
In the second quarter, 6.7% of domestic households had a monthly household income of $80,000 and over, while 16.2% of domestic households had monthly household income of less than $8,000.
The number of domestic households in the period was 2,401,300, up from the 2,386,200 in the first quarter.
For the second quarter, the median monthly employment earnings of $12,000 was the same as in the first quarter.
The labour force numbered 3,877,200, up 24 ,500 over the first quarter.
The report contains statistics on the labour force, employment, unemployment and underemployment for the second quarter.
