Premature to say if HK is facing a sixth wave: Lam
The city has been seeing an increase in positive cases since the beginning of June.
Despite an increase in positive cases since the beginning of June, Chief Executive Carrie Lam said it is still premature to say if Hong Kong is already facing a sixth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It needs a lot more indicators to confirm the situation," Lam said in a press briefing.
"As a result of the increase in positive cases and since we have allowed confirmed cases to stay at home where appropriate for home isolation, it is only natural or inevitable that some of the monitoring indicators will also go up like the viral load in the sewage," Lam said.
Meanwhile, Lam announced that social distancing measures currently in place will be maintained until 30 June.
The Chief Executive said she will also be meeting with experts to seek advice on what measures should be put in place.
