Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to urge more Hong Kong investments.
Thailand wants Hong Kong investors to join in the development of its water-management system, high-speed-rail projects and power production. The Thai government is preparing an agreement on cooperation with Hong Kong in economic and trade relations.
Thailand is setting aside some US$73.7 billion for these projects. The project budget will be forwarded to the Cabinet for approval this month.
A Thai government source said the prime minister's visit is seen as building confidence among investors in Hong Kong so that they can see the viability of transport and infrastructure development that links ASEAN and becomes its regional centre,
The Thai PM will also visit South Korea from February 24-26.
