Volume of total exports down 15.3% YoY in September
Imports of goods also went down by 14% over September last year.
The volume of exports of goods in Hong Kong decreased 15.3% whilst imports also declined 14% in September 2022 from figures in September 2021, the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) said.
In a statement, C&SD said comparing the nine months of 2022 with the same period last year, the volume of total exports and imports also went down by 11% and 10.6%, respectively.
When compared to the third quarter of 2022 from the previous quarter on a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of exports and imports fell by 8.7% and 11%, respectively.
Changes in volume of external merchandise trade are stemmed from changes “in external merchandise trade value with the effect of price changes discounted.”
Compared with September 2022 to September 2021, the prices of total exports of goods and imports of goods rose by 7.9% and 7.8%, respectively.
With regards to price changes in the first nine months of 2022 over the same period in 2021, the prices of total exports of goods and imports of goods grew by 8.8% and 9.0%, respectively.
