$6,000 handout scheme set to kick off
A website in the coming days to provide information on the $38.5bn plan.
Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Prof KC Chan has outlined the series of measures the Government will undertake in the coming weeks to launch the $6,000 handout scheme.
Speaking on a radio programme on Saturday, he said a dedicated Government website will launch in the next 10 days providing information on the scheme, according to a government report.
Workshops will be organised for Home Affairs Department and Social Welfare Department officers, and those from non-government organisations, who will help in registering the public to receive the handout.
From early August, application forms for the handout will be provided at local banks, and Home Affairs Department and Social Welfare Department offices. On August 28, banks will open to collect the completed forms, which can also be submitted by post.
The Legislative Council on Friday approved the $38.5 billion needed to fund the scheme.
