HSBC Opens New Business Centre in HK’s SME Hub
The 8,000 square foot facility in Kwun Tong area will offer trade, cash management, financing, investment, insurance and company account services for SMEs.
The new centre, located at the Crocodile Centre on Hoi Yuen Road, will also process registrations for HSBC’s Phonebanking and Business Internet Banking services.
The Kwun Tong area has long been considered a thriving hub for SMEs. Recent market research into SMEs revealed Kwun Tong to be their top location of choice, with 26 per cent already being located in this area. HSBC has had presence in Kwun Tong since 1963 and opened its first Business Centre in this area in 2001.
Albert Chan, HSBC’s Head of Commercial Banking Hong Kong and Lena Chan, Managing Director and Head of Business Banking for Hong Kong will officiate the opening of the business centre.
“HSBC is committed to supporting SMEs. In August 2010 we recorded a 14% increase in SME customers compared to same period last year. We are investing HKD75 million in the next three years to expand our Business Centre network in Hong Kong and plan to recruit 200 frontline staff in the next six months to meet the needs of this growing customer base. In the coming year, we will establish six new Business Centres in core business districts throughout the territory,” Chan said.
