London's renowned Duck & Waffle joins Taste of Hong Kong
Take part in the ultimate dining experience.
Hong Kong’s latest, greatest and hottest restaurants will be joined by London favourite Duck & Waffle and its award-winning executive chef Daniel Doherty for one day only on Saturday 12 March at Taste of Hong Kong presented by Standard Chartered, offering festival goers and food fanatics a chance to try its signature dish “The Duck & Waffle”.
According to a release from IMG and Standard Chartered, Duck & Waffle will no doubt prove popular amongst Hong Kong gourmands, having already received its fair share of accolades in the UK, including Top 100 Restaurants by the prestigious National Restaurant Awards. As London’s first 24-7 gourmet dining restaurant, Duck & Waffle offers a playful take on traditional British fare with broad European influences emphasising local, rustic, seasonal and sustainable ingredients.
“I am delighted to be involved in Taste Festivals’ Asian launch and in particular for it to be in Hong Kong as it is such a food-centric city that really appreciates and celebrates great food,” said Daniel Doherty. We already have a great fan base from Hong Kong who come to Duck & Waffle in London so we are looking forward to showcasing our signature dish, the Duck & Waffle to the rest of Hong Kong!”
Here's more from IMG and Standard Chartered:
“I have loved participating in Taste of London as it’s a great way for chefs to connect with guests on a much more personal level as we get to come out front of house and chat to visitors. It is also a great way to meet your peers in the industry and catch up. Being able to participate in a Taste Festival in Hong Kong takes the event to a whole new level for us.”
As the ultimate dining experience, Taste of Hong Kong promises a showcase of twelve Hong Kong restaurants throughout 10-13 March. Festivities will commence with an awards ceremony on Thursday 10 March to reveal the Best in Taste. Judges will include local food critics and renowned Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur Pascal Aussignac of Club Gascon fame.
Flying in from the UK for the festival, Aussignac and Doherty bring with them a strong heritage from working with Taste of London, the original Taste Festival founded in 2004. Doherty has participated in both 2014 and 2015’s June and November versions of Taste of London where he served up dishes with a very British sense of humour and taste, a festival favourite being his “5 Star Kebab,” “Spicy Ox Cheek Doughnut” and the famed “Duck & Waffle.” A legendary chef in Europe in his own right, Pascal has also won the coveted ‘Best in Taste’ award at Taste of London three times in the last four years, with Southern French delights, including “Marmite Royale & Soldiers” and “Croque Gascon”.
‘Best in Taste’ will be judged on a dish from each of the Taste of Hong Kong’s restaurants including; Aberdeen Street Social, Amber, CHINO, Duddell’s, Serge et le phoque, Tin Lung Heen, Tosca, Yardbird and RŌNIN and more to be announced, allowing festival goers to seek out and sample the winner over the course of the four days. The must-attend event will include small plate signature dishes from each restaurant, unique to festival icon dishes, interactive and engaging demonstrations, masterclasses, entertainment activations and artisanal products for the discerning guests.
