Check out what Fatty Crab has in store for Hong Kong diners
According to a release, With its popular take on South East Asian flavours and unique rock n’ roll experience; the much anticipated Fatty Crab arrives in Hong Kong.
After receiving numerous awards and accolades in New York, which include a listing in the Michelin Guide’s list of Bib Gourmand Restaurants and glowing New York Times reviews for its various concepts, the restaurant and cocktail bar now brings its vibrant energy to Old Bailey Street in Central, where bold flavours and hand crafted cocktails rule.
This neighbourhood joint serves Zakary Pelaccio’s bold take on Malaysian, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese and Singaporean inspired cuisine -- while using western style cooking techniques. Signature dishes include Chili Crab, Watermelon Pickle & Crispy Pork, Fatty Duck, and ‘Cue Smoked Ribs. All condiments and pastes are made in-house from scratch, with love…a lotta love.
Zak’s approach to food is not only a product of time spent with chef luminaries like Daniel Boulud and Thomas Keller, but is also heavily influenced by his travels across Western Europe and the vast amount of time spent traveling throughout Asia and living in Malaysia.
The bar at Fatty Crab offers a unique hand crafted cocktail list, created by the Crew’s very own mixologist, Phillip Ward who has experience in numerous, noteworthy, New York establishments such as Mayahuel, Death & Co., Pegu Club and Flatiron Lounge. The bar also offers a dynamic list of wines specifically designed to pair well with the robust and spicy flavours.
The space, designed by Candace Campos of ID, offers three unique experiences. Enter through the dimly lit cocktail bar for pre-dinner drinks and a selected eating menu.
The bar is sexy and raw, maintaining many of the buildings original wall textures. Post-cocktail time moves you down to the back of the space, past a secluded booth area that offers a full dining menu. Walk through the steel-paneled hallway past a peek through the kitchen leading into the main bustling dining room.
Subtle design elements and vibrant colors reference South East Asian influences present on the Fatty Crab menu. The dining experience achieves a combination of comfort without pretension, while still projecting an almost palpable buzz of energy and excitement.
This will be the destination for the best of eating, drinking, and an all-around Fatty experience, opening late May 2013.
Fatty Crab is located at G/F 11-13 Old Bailey Street, Central, Hong Kong.
