Poultry products from Denmark, Netherlands suspended
Amidst bird flu scare.
The Centre for Food Safety has suspended the import of poultry, poultry products and eggs from parts of Denmark and the Netherlands.
It received notification from the World Organisation for Animal Health today about outbreaks of low-pathogenic H7 avian influenza on a game bird farm in Viborg Municipality, Denmark, and a poultry farm in Utrecht Province, the Netherlands.
Last year, Hong Kong imported about 2,300 tonnes of frozen poultry meat and 78,000 eggs from Denmark, and 17,000 tonnes of frozen poultry meat and 1.3 million eggs from the Netherlands.
The centre has contacted authorities in Denmark and the Netherlands and will monitor developments.
