Due to avian influenza scare.
According to a report, the Centre for Food Safety has banned the import of salted duck eggs from Hoa Binh in Vietnam due to an H5N1 avian influenza outbreak at a poultry farm.
The ban was implemented to protect Hong Kong's public and animal health, after the World Organisation for Animal Health notified the centre about the outbreak.
The centre will monitor information issued by the organisation and the latest situation in Vietnam, and maintain contact with major local egg importers, distributors and supermarkets.
