F&B sector hit by highest vacancy rates in December
The industry had roughly 12,120 vacancies.
The F&B sector registered the highest year-end vacancy rates after accounting for 16.37% of total private sector vacancies in December, according to a government press release.
This was equivalent to 12,120 vacancies out of 74,040. The retail trade also registered high vacancy statistics at 7,800 followed by professional business services at 7,020.
Import and export trade as well as financing and insurance registered 5,980 and 5,670 vacancies respectively.
Analysed by major occupation, vacancies were observed mainly in the categories of service and sales workers (22 670 vacancies), associate professionals (14 200 vacancies), elementary occupations (13 920 vacancies), and clerical support workers (7 710 vacancies).
However, total unemployment levels remained flat at 2.9% in the December-February period as tourism-related industries boosted the employment situation.
