Hong Kong food supply stable
Japanese products constitute only a small portion of Hong Kong's food imports.
According to Hong Kong Information Services Department, Permanent Secretary for Food & Health Marion Lai said, Hong Kong should not be alarmed for any disruption to their importation will have a minimal effect on their overall food supply.
Mrs Lai met major food and infant formula suppliers, retailers and importers to discuss the impact of the earthquake and nuclear crisis in Japan on the local supply of food and infant formula.
The trade will closely monitor stock levels and seek replenishment well in advance, as well as enhance logistic efficiency to ensure swift replrenishment to shelves.
