Restaurant receipts and purchases up 5.1% in Q3
Positive consumer sentiment buoyed sales.
Restaurant receipts and purchases increased by 5.1% YoY in Q3 with an estimated value of $28.3b, according to latest data from the government statistics agency.
The provisional value of total purchases by restaurants also increased 1.8% YoY to $9.2b.
The rising sales figures across all restaurant types indicate positive consumer sentiment on Hong Kong’s restaurant services.
Total receipts of Chinese restaurants increased 3.4% YoY in value whilst total receipts of non-Chinese restaurants went up to 6.6% YoY.
Total receipts of fast food shops increased 6.7% in value and total receipts of bars rose 3.3%.
The Quarterly Survey of Restaurant Receipts and Purchases collects data on restaurant receipts and purchases for gauging the level and trends in consumer spending on Hong Kong catering services.
