Short-term restaurant activity picks up as total receipts value hit $112.7b in 2017
Thanks to receipts growth in non-Chinese restaurants and fast food shops.
Hong Kong’s restaurant sector posted a strong short-term business performance as total receipts rose 5% YoY in value and 2.3% YoY in volume to hit $112.7b in 2017, according to latest provisional figures from the Census and Statistics Department.
All restaurant types registered strong performances as total receipt values for non-Chinese restaurants and fast food shops rose 6.3% and 5.7% respectively.
Total receipts of Chinese restaurants and bars also increased 3.8% and 4.1% respectively.
The sector also closed the year on a high note as total receipts hit $29.7b in Q4, up by 6.6% in value and 3.9% in volume.
