1,181 traffic accidents recorded from January-May

According to a report, police officers issued 814 fixed-penalty tickets and 47 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations on Hong Kong Island today.
A total of 294 officers were sent to enforce regulations at traffic-accident blacksites on the island.
They issued 547 fixed-penalty tickets for illegal parking and 267 for other offences. They also gave verbal warnings to 23 pedestrians and 117 drivers for other minor offences.
There were 1,181 traffic accidents in which people were injured on the island from January to May, involving 401 pedestrians. Almost half - 49.1% - of the cases involving pedestrians were attributed to their negligence.
