Hong Kong inks equine pact with Mainland
Expert group and joint conference underway.
According to a report, Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man and Vice Minister of the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection & Quarantine Wei Chuanzhong signed an agreement last Thursday in Beijing on the inspection and quarantine of Hong Kong race horses.
The Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department and the Department of Supervision on Animal & Plant Quarantine will implement the agreement, which allows for race horses from Hong Kong to be trained at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Equine Sport Training Centre in Guangdong.
An expert group and a joint conference will be set up to work out requirements, monitoring approach and procedures.
