Private hospitals not to expand maternity services
Private hospitals have agreed not to expand their maternity services in the short term.
However, Secretary for Food & Health Dr York Chow said the existing booking system in public hospitals can ensure local pregnant women have priority in using obstetric services, adding the Government will ensure Hong Kong residents are given proper and adequate obstetric services.
The Hospital Authority and private hospitals will review their nurse training programmes for obstetric and neonatal services to ensure they can cope with demand in the medium-to-long term.
