Hospital Authority to recruit 330 doctors
Secretary for Food & Health Dr. York Chow says the Hospital Authority plans to recruit about 330 doctors in the current fiscal year.
Speaking at the Legislative Council’s Health Services Panel meeting today, Dr Chow said the authority has been engaging staff representatives and frontline doctor unions to work out measures to improve staff retention and strengthen the workforce.
Short-term measures include enhancing promotion opportunities, recognising excessive overnight on-site call duties, providing full-pay examination leave, improving the doctor-allocation mechanism, and extending the pilot scheme for hiring part-time doctors.
Mid-term measures include employing doctors with limited registration, and a review of doctors’ workload.
