He will take over on 29 December.
According to a release, the Department of Health confirmed that Dr Leung Ting-hung has been named the new Centre for Health Protection Controller.
Currently the head of the centre's Surveillance & Epidemiology Branch, Dr Leung will succeed Dr Thomas Tsang on December 29.
Dr Tsang tendered his resignation in September.
