HKTE partners with local college to offer Cantonese course
The two-month course consisting of 12 lessons focuses on everyday Cantonese phrases.
Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) has partnered with Hong Kong Wen Wei Management College to offer a 2-month long regular Cantonese course.
The course consisting of 12 lessons, focusing on everyday Cantonese phrases and sentence structures. The instructors teach Cantonese through small-group teaching and interactive methods.
HKTE said that the course aims to help new talents integrate into the community.
Participants who complete the course and pass the exam will receive a certificate.
“The talents wanted a smaller-sized class. They do not want to be that formal, in terms of learning how to pronounce the tones and things. They just want to learn casual, day-to-day language,” HKTE Director Anthony Lau said.
Lau also noted that job opportunities and housing are the top priorities for young talents coming to Hong Kong.
He added that the office plans to organise Cantonese courses for talents with children and non-Chinese speaking talents in the future.
In the coming months, the office will embark on promotion activities in Malaysia, Singapore and North America, as well as European countries including the UK and Germany.
