
Job advertising in Hong Kong jumped 10.8% in 1Q
Advertising for legal professionals boosted growth.
According to Robert Walters' Asia Job Index for 1Q 2013, advertising figures in Hong Kong increased by 10.8% from the previous quarter and 17.4% from January to March.
The report noted that Hong Kong’s quarterly GDP has risen due to an improving Chinese economy, which has led to an increase in business confidence and a willingness to advertise roles. Retail servicing and sales advertising grew by 10.9%.
Retail sales have firmed on the back of improved consumer confidence and Hong Kong has also seen growing numbers of Chinese tourists. Advertising for legal professionals grew by 15.2%, a trend that correlated to the improving conditions on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and increased merger and acquisition activity.
