Science Park becomes the first in Hong Kong to deploy Hotspot 2.0
Here's why it's billed as "extraordinary".
According to a release, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation is dedicated to supporting the development of local innovation and technology, as well as unleashing vitality in the technology start-up market, through providing advanced facilities and comprehensive Incubation Programmes.
To foster research and development and their applications, HKSTPC announced its collaboration with HKT Limited, launching the Hotspot 2.0 trial test which made Hong Kong Science Park the first Hotspot 2.0 landmark in Hong Kong. HKT’s mobile customers can enjoy auto connect between mobile and Wi-Fi networks, and always stay online without worrying about the mobile data usage.
Hotspot 2.0 is a cutting-edge Wi-Fi technology that is still at a trial phase in the Asia Pacific region. With dedications to promoting innovation development and advanced technology applications, HKSTPC is leading local mobile communication evolution to the new era of Hotspot 2.0, synchronising with the world’s latest Wi-Fi standard.
This strengthens the position of Hong Kong as a globally recognised leading digital economy and a dominant telecommunication infrastructure hub.
Hong Kong Science Park is home to tens of thousands of innovation talents and attracts local and overseas visits counting to over 200,000 times a year. They all now have the chance to enjoy the latest Hotspot 2.0 Wi-Fi network in Science Park.
This technology is extraordinary in three different ways – auto-search, auto-network selection and auto-authentication. Users are only required to sign up for Wi-Fi service with their mobile service supplier, network will then be automatically connected once a Hotspot 2.0-enabled smart device* enters the Park, facilitating auto connect between Wi-Fi and mobile network. There is no need for any App installation or additional registration and verification. Hotspot 2.0 Wi-Fi technology is a stable and safe network that offers a smooth and swift Internet experience.
