First ever Hong Kong Art Gallery Week launches 19 November
The Hong Kong Art Gallery Association is pleased to announce that the Hong Kong Art Gallery Week, sponsored by
Bank of China (Hong Kong) Private Banking, officially opens on 19 November 2013, marking the Hong Kong’s first citywide event dedicated to exploring the gallery culture and art scene in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Art Gallery Week brings together more than 10 main events open to the public including a series of art talks, seminars and studio visits as well as two art walks – Art After Hours: Art Gallery Night on Friday, 22 November and Art Gallery Day on Saturday, 23 November. Additionally 49 member galleries will present diverse and exciting exhibitions in different parts of the city throughout the week and beyond.
The programme aims to open up the city’s art space to the public, and more importantly is contrived with a strong conviction to bring the culture of gallery hopping to the general public. Through this carefully designed programme, it is with confidence that the Hong Kong Art Gallery Week will further raise awareness of art and culture in Hong Kong.
Bank of China (Hong Kong) Private Banking is the title sponsor of the Hong Kong Art Gallery Week. The week kicks off with a press launch and opening party on Tuesday, 19 November 2013 at Duddell’s which will be officiated by Chief Secretary for Administration Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor together with Under Secretary for Home Affairs Ms. Florence Hui Hiu-fai and Legislative Councilor Mr. Ma Fung Kwok.
