Mercedes-Benz hits historic sales record worldwide, Hong Kong, Macau markets
According to a release, Mercedes-Benz has made 2014 the fourth consecutive record year in sales worldwide, by selling 1,650,010 vehicles (+12.9%). In the Hong Kong and Macau markets, Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Limited also delivered a new high of 7,724 passenger cars (+13.4%, HKG: +11.6%; Macau: +21.9%) to customers. Mercedes-Benz has thus become the clear leader in the premium segment in both Hong Kong and Macau.
And it is also the overall best-selling brand in the Macau market. In 2014, the S-Class remained the best-selling luxury saloon worldwide.
The sales of the S-Class skyrocketed by 82.2% to 103,737 units globally. In the Hong Kong and Macau markets, the S-Class was the most popular Mercedes-Benz model and the best-selling luxury saloon with 1,422 units sold, followed by the E-Class (1,240 units) and the CLA-Class (1,132 units).
Globally, the new C-Class saloon became the top-selling Mercedes-Benz model in 2014, rising by 4.4% to 316,792 units. The new C-Class was also very well-received with strong sales in both Hong Kong (857 units) and Macau (271 units).
The compact car segment was extended by the new GLA-Class. Worldwide unit sales grew by 24.7% to 463,152 vehicles of the A-, B-, CLA- and GLA-Class. Mercedes-Benz has never before delivered so many compacts in a year and the GLA has quickly become very well accepted also in Hong Kong and Macau after its launch in August 2014.
