Chinese Opera Festival to open
Shows to be staged from June 20-22.
The Leisure & Cultural Services Department will present the annual Chinese Opera Festival in June, opening with a new Cantonese Opera, Battle at Wancheng.
The show will be staged at 7.30pm from June 20 to 22 at the Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre. The production is directed by Liu Xun and penned by Cantonese Opera virtuoso Law Kar-ying, based on a revised traditional work with new insights, character development and action.
Yau Sing-po and Chan Ho-kau, Yuen Siu-fai, Hong Hai, Lui Hung-kwong and Wang Kit-ching will also perform.
Free talks will be held to tie in with the programme, with a pre-performance talk at 2.30pm on June 1 and a post-performance talk at 7.30 pm on June 26.
