TVB to set up own music label

Will help develop music careers of TVB artists.

Hong Kong broadcaster TVB said it will launch a new music label named Stars Dream Entertainment by absorbing music company Stars Shine International. Industry observers said this move makes strategic sense since it will reduce TVB's dependence on big music labels like EMI and Sony Music. It will also give the company's artists a better shot at developing their music careers.

Stars Shine head Herman Ho has been appointed the CEO of Stars Dream and will officially join TVB on October 31. Ho said he is very happy that TVB decided to build its own music label. He revealed that Stars Dream will help develop the music careers of TVB artistes. Many of Stars Shine artists and production staff will be absorbed into Stars Dream.
