The Information Services Department launched iPad and Android applications for the Hong Kong 2012 yearbook in English and Traditional Chinese, which can be downloaded free from the App Store or Google Play.
While this is the third year the department has had an iPad App, it is the first time it has provided an Android version due to the increasing popularity of Android devices.
The yearbook provides an in-depth account of government policy and activities, and an overview of Hong Kong's development during 2012.
Its 21 chapters cover subjects ranging from Hong Kong's constitution and legal system, the economy, commerce and industry, employment, education, health and social welfare, to the environment, recreation, sports, and the arts.
It contains a wealth of facts and figures about Hong Kong, including over 40 tables of statistics and an endpaper map showing population density.
It also features more than 80 photographs in 12 photo sections on events, people and places in Hong Kong, including sections on sports, urban greenery, religious architecture, art in the city, and the Government's working dogs.
