AAC Technologies engages in Li-ion batteries technologies
The move will enable the company to develop new products having higher energy density and a longer life cycle.
AAC Technologies Holdings Inc. (“AAC Technologies”), a world leading miniature components total solutions provider, has entered into agreements with China-based R&D companies for the acquisition of technologies and production facilities in relation to Li-ion batteries.
The investment will enable AAC Technologies to develop new products that possess higher energy density and a longer life cycle as well as safer and more environmental friendly characteristics in adopting a new water-based adhesive material in anodes, as well as a coated microporous electrolyte separator. The origin of the aforementioned technologies can be traced to the China Academy of Sciences, the nation’s most prominent scientific research institute, and have subsequently been refined and commercialised by a team of seasoned R&D engineers, according to an AAC Technologies report.
Capitalising on the unique and innovative technologies and the established global customer network in consumer devices, the new battery products could generate strong competitive edge for AAC Technologies against existing batteries manufacturers and lay the foundation for offering a sound alternative solution in battery products.
Mr Benjamin Pan, Chief Executive Officer of AAC Technologies, said, “Battery is an increasingly important component within all portable devices, given the increasing power requirements driven by the evolution of smartphones. This investment enables us to further diversify our product mix into the non-acoustic arena.”
