China’s EV battery giant CATL to set up HQ, R&D centre in Hong Kong
CATL plans to employ 500 workers in Hong Kong within five years.
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the establishment of the former's headquarters in Hong Kong.
Apart from the headquarters, the electric vehicle (EV) battery supplier based in China will also establish an R&D Center for Innovation and Technology in the Hong Kong Science Park.
Savills reported that CATL plans to employ 500 people in Hong Kong within five years.
Since its founding year in 2011, CATL has set up 13 battery manufacturing bases around the globe.
