Manufacturing industrial productions increase by 0.7% in Q2
The sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities increased by 1.5%.
The index for industrial production for manufacturing industries as a whole increased by 0.7% in the second quarter (Q2) of 2024, following a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 1.8% in the previous quarter, according to the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD).
The corresponding producer price index also increased by 3.0% in Q2, following a YoY increase of 1.2% in the first quarter (Q1).
The index of industrial production for sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities increased by 1.5% in Q2, as against a YoY decrease of 0.5% in Q1.
In the same period, the corresponding producer price index increased by 1.0%, following a YoY increase of 0.3%.
Increases in output volume were recorded mainly in the food, beverage, and tobacco industries (up 0.6%).
Meanwhile, decreases in output volume were recorded in the textiles and wearing apparel industry (down 7.4%), the metal, computer, electronic and optical products, machinery and equipment industry (down 3.6%), and the paper products, printing, and reproduction of recorded media industry (down 2.1%).
The index of industrial production for manufacturing industries as a whole decreased by 0.5% in Q2.
The metal, computer, electronic and optical products, machinery, and equipment industry had the largest increase in producer price (up 5.1%).
This is followed by the food, beverage, and tobacco industry (up 1.7%), the textiles and wearing apparel industry (up 1.5%), and the paper products, printing, and reproduction of recorded media industry (up 1.1%).
