Vaccination “critical” in operational risk management: SFC

The SFC has issued a circular asking corporations to review their continuity plans.

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has issued a circular, asking licensed corporations to review its plans after it flagged vaccination as “critical” in operational risk management.

The commission said corporations should encourage staff performing critical functions to get vaccinated.

“A higher vaccination rate in the community will accelerate a return to normality and strengthen the resiliency of the financial services industry,” CEO Ashley Alder said.

“Licensed corporations should strongly encourage their staff, especially critical support staff and those who are client-facing to get vaccinated as soon as possible.”

The SFC added corporations should provide a suitable arrangement for critical staff yet to be vaccinated are unfit to get vaccinated.

The SFC had earlier announced it will entitle its staff two days of vaccination leave, following the launch of the government’s “Early Vaccination for All” campaign.
