CFA Institute appoints Chae Kwang Lee as Director, Industry Relations in Asia Pacific
Lee will design and implement an industry relations outreach plan that will build relationships with investment industry employers.
Chae Kwang Lee, CFA, joined CFA Institute as director of Industry Relations, Asia Pacific, CFA Institute since 13 June 2011. In this role, he is responsible for designing and implementing an industry relations outreach plan that will build relationships with investment industry employers. He engages with a wide audience of industry constituents to gather intelligence from the industry on their needs in order to support the development of educational and other resources provided by CFA Institute, gather and share intelligence regarding potential industry sponsors and partners for educational and other initiatives conducted by CFA Institute.
Most recently, Mr. Lee worked as the Head of Research & Strategist at Korea Investment & Securities where he did strategy marketing for institutional investors and arranged Corporate IR for overseas clients. Previously he worked as a CIO (Equity) at KDB Asset Management Co., Ltd where he was responsible for asset allocation, sector weighting, as well as managed equity and balanced portfolios. He also worked with Eugene Asset Management Co., LTD as a CIO (Equity & Fixed Income) where he was responsible for portfolio building, credit research and supervised fixed income portfolios. He also worked with National Pension Service as a Head of Research in Fund Management division where he was responsible for model portfolio for equity and fixed income investment and he served as an “Acting CIO” for the last three month before moving to the private sector.
Mr. Lee has a Masters of Economics with concentration on Econometrics and Labor Economics from Seoul National University, Korea. He is a CFA charter-holder since 2002 and has acquired other local certifications which include Certified Investment consultant, and Certified Portfolio Management & Financial Planner. He has served as a volunteer for the CFA Korea Society since 2002, 2 years of Education chair, another 2 years of Program chair, and 4 years of society president from 2006 to 2010. During his presidency, he introduced GIPS to the Korea financial industry by establishing GIPS sponsor with “Kofia”(Korea financial industry association), and established CFA Korea Society Education Center for providing prep course for the candidates and providing education contents for the members in the long-term perspective.
