The Broadcasting Authority found complaints about ATV’s inaccurate news reporting and the late correction of factual errors substantiated.
A report by the Information Services Department noted, “The authority said complaints were received against the misreporting of news of Mr Ziang's death broadcast on the Home and World Channels of ATV on July 6 and 7.”
According to the report, the Broadcasting Authority regrets ATV's adoption of an irresponsible approach in its response to the authority’s inquiry, and fined ATV $300,000.
