State-funded incubator boost startups in creative industries
The Design Incubation Programme supports ventures in fashion, interior design and media amongst other creative fields.
The state-funded Design Incubation Programme is now open for applications for startups in various creative industries including fashion, branding and packaging, jewellery, interior design, visual and spatial arts and media who are looking to grow their business and expand their networks.
According to a government press release, the incubator has nurtured over 200 creative design startups through the provision of a wide range of services from financial assistance, discounted work space rent, subsidies for operations, marketing and development for a two-year period.
In her maiden Policy Address, Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced an injection of $1b into the CreateSmart Initiative to strengthen support for the development of creative industries. A portion of the funds are to be directed to providing resources for the daily operations of the Hong Kong Design Centre which manages the incubation programme.
