HKU Jockey Club ESG Research Institute launched
The institute is finding multi-disciplinary solutions for ESG issues.
Seeking to foster meaningful collaboration on best practices and solutions to key ESG issues, the University of Hong Kong formally launched the HKU Jockey Club Enterprise Sustainability Global Research Institute on 5 June by bringing together global academics, regulatory partners, and corporate leaders at its first ESG forum.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust-funded forum welcomed nearly 300 attendees.
University of Hong Kong President and Vice-chancellor Professor Xiang Zhang, JP, formally opened the event by stating, "There is a special meaning in launching the HKU Jockey Club Enterprise Sustainability Global Research Institute and holding the Inaugural ESG forum of the Institute on World Environment Day, as we are in the midst of environmental issues and climate change."
Xiang added that ESG in the modern era poses various issues and requires multi-disciplinary solutions to get the necessary results. He emphasised the importance of the new Institute as a knowledge hub geared towards finding such solutions through active collaboration between the academe and the corporate sector.
