HSBC appoints William Chan as investment head for global insurance
He leads a team of investment specialists in Hong Kong.
HSBC has appointed William Chan as global chief investment officer and head of investments for global insurance, effective immediately.
Chan is tasked with leading a team of investment specialists out of Hong Kong to deliver synergistic institutional investment capabilities for HSBC’s billions of investment assets in Asia and internationally, the bank said in an announcement on 9 October 2024.
Chan reports to Edward Moncreiffe, CEO, global insurance. He will be based in Hong Kong.
Prior to his new role, Chan was CIO of HSBC Life Hong Kong.
He brings over three decades of industry experience. Chan previously served in senior positions in HSBC Asset Management and UBS Asset Management in Hong Kong and the UK.
Chan is also one of the leaders of the Green Task Force of the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers and is said to have contributed to the launch of the Hong Kong Insurance Industry Climate Charter. HSBC Life Hong Kong was a founding signatory of this charter.
