Support centre launched for minority owners in compulsory sale disputes

The support centre for minority owners of older buildings affected by compulsory sale applications, made under the Land (Compulsory Sale for Redevelopment) Ordinance (LCSRO), has begun operations.
The Support Service Centre for Minority Owners under Compulsory Sale aims to encourage mediation to resolve compulsory sale disputes rather than resorting to litigation.
It will offer free preliminary professional advice to minority owners affected by compulsory sale applications through seminars.
It will also provide free referrals for legal and valuation services, emotional counselling, and help in finding alternative accommodation.
Over 60 lawyers and 30 surveyors have agreed to offer free preliminary professional advisory services in the form of seminars.
The centre aims to encourage mediation to resolve compulsory sale disputes rather than resorting to litigation.
Amendments to the Land Compulsory Sale for Redevelopment Ordinance (LCSRO) will be in effect in mid-December.
