Welfare cases fell with lowest-earnings cases having the most significant drop

The government announced that the overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance caseload dropped by 484 cases to 203,662 in July 2023, which fell 0.2% from June 2023.
The total count of recipients was 282,303. Amongst the cases, low-earnings cases documented the highest decrease. It reported a month-to-month decrease of 2.2% to 1,723.
Unemployment cases declined 0.5% to 17,670. Single-parent cases dropped 0.4% to 21,627, whilst old-age cases declined 0.2% to 113,933.
Both permanent disability cases and ill-health cases went up 0.1% to 17,267 and 27,522, respectively.
