Latham & Watkins names Ing Loong Yang as senior partner

He brings with him years of experience in commercial litigation.

Latham & Watkins announced the arrival of Ing Loong Yang to the firm’s Hong Kong office as a partner in the Litigation Department. 

A senior litigator with more than 25 years’ experience, Yang’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation matters and international arbitration proceedings, particularly on cross-border disputes with Greater China elements.

Originally from Singapore, Yang, who is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, has practiced extensively throughout Asia, with particularly deep experience in Singapore, Beijing and Hong Kong.

Yang’s disputes practice spans a cross-section of contentious matters including competition law, criminal prosecutions, shareholders’ disputes, FCPA-related investigations, and joint venture and technology licensing disputes.

Yang joins Latham & Watkins from Sidley Austin in Hong Kong. He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University with a BA (Hons) in 1984, and qualified as a barrister in England the following year.

Before moving to private practice in 1992, Yang worked for the Singapore Attorney-General’s Chambers as a State Counsel and Deputy Public Prosecutor.
