Around 3 in 10 Hongkongers prefer shopping online
Over half of the consumers in Indonesia and Thailand would rather buy online.
A total of 29% of consumers in Hong Kong prefer buying online to in-store, the lowest amongst six markets, according to a report by YouGov.
Around 38% neither agreed nor disagreed that they prefer buying things online, whilst 34% are more inclined to visit physical stores, similar to Australia.
A majority of Indonesian (56%) and Thai (52%) consumers prefer to purchase online over physical stores, with 14% and 15% of customers, respectively, disagreed.

“Clearly, Indonesia and Thailand provide a strong case for brands seeking to thrive in both markets’ competitive retail landscape to maintain a visible web presence and online shop capabilities,” YouGov said.
In Taiwan, 44% prefer buying online, whilst 14% opt to physically shop. Around 40% of consumers in Australia want to shop online.
Around 38% of Singaporeans generally choose to buy online, and 23% prefer to shop in physical stores.
